‘The Rachel’ defined the 90’s. Early 2000’s were all about long and straight hair. Last year chic bobs and undercut pixies were the look of the moment. 2015, is all about the mid-length, long bob also known as a “lob”, or clavicle “clavicut” haircut.

What makes “IT” so popular?

This haircut is gaining popularity because it is a fresh look, user friendly, and incredibly versatile. The mid length cut is in-between short and long hair, perfect if you cannot decide. The cut can vary in lengths, from just above the shoulders to mid chest. Short enough to be manageable and long enough for styling. Mid-length styles can be worn with beachy waves, curled with a wand, or worn sleek and straight; the options are endless. Still long enough to pull back into a pony tail, top knot, or even a d.i.y up-do. It works for almost every type of hair. Great for finer straight to wavy hair to make it feel fuller with a blunt outline. For coarser or curly hair, its best to add layers to avoid the triangle look. Product choice is simple and straightforward. Use a salt spray or texture spray like TIGI Catwalk Session Series Salt Spray for loose natural waves paired with a curl cream such as Bed Head On The Rebound Curl Re-Call Cream for moisture. A smoothing cream or oil works for straighter hair and then can be curled or waved with an iron or wand. Applying TIGI Hair Reborn Restorative Illuminoil to damp hair, rough drying, and adding loose waves with TIGI Pro Curl Stick can achieve this effortless style. Volume sprays are a perfect for finer hair to create movement, use TIGI Catwalk Bodifying Spray. The look becomes more refined with color. Hand painted highlights, ombre, rich single process, or even a bright or pastel color add dimension to show off the cut. It is an infinitely cool and easy haircut, made for anyone.

Who wears “IT” best?

There are so many celebrities rocking this trending haircut, but who’s doing it best? Have to give a lot of credit to one my favorite reality star turned designer, Lauren Conrad. She made the chop back in 2014. First in October she went for a more mid-length look and then less then a month later she went even shorter, capturing her looks on Instagram. A lot of celebrities have accidental lobs, used to have a pixie a couple years ago but have grown into perfect mid-length styles; like Emma Watson. Reality star, Kim Kardashian shocked her fans by cutting her long locks to a perfect one length long bob, which suits her face shape. Other stars like, Taylor Swift, Olivia Palermo, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexa Chung, Fearne Cotton, and Christina Hendricks have the now iconic haircut and wear it just right.
