JAPANESE MAGAZINE BOB VISITS THE DRAWING ROOM NEW YORK

(just an excerpt)

The Drawing Room New York was opened last year by a Greek stylist, Clyde. The name of the salon was chosen due to his wish to create a place where people would gather together. They wanted to make the feel of the salon such as if customers were going to visit a friend’s loft.

Historically, SoHo lofts have been many artists’ favorite place and the salon is located on the buildings 2nd floor in the central SoHo area, which has a very trendy, artsy, and creative atmosphere. The sunlight shines down on the fresh white walls with rounded mirrors and a beige wood colored floor. The modern and sleekly designed space features a clean white base with black and red, which was developed by the salon owner, Clyde.

“There is always more to learn about hair, and I really wanted to open my salon in a very artistic environment. I believe hair styling is an art form, and it is very important to be surrounded by good artistic visionaries.” Clyde commented.

The salon has been receiving highly-prasied online reviews, including “amazing salon with a unique atmosphere”, “one of the best experiences at this salon”, “great hair cut”. Many satisfied customers commented that they were stopped on the street and asked where they got their hair cut, and that’s how the salon’s reputation has been spreading: by word of mouth. Since opening, the salon gained about 55% in sales.

“I believed that the recession was the best time to open my salon” said Clyde, a former law student back in Greece. He is an enthusiastic optimist to find an opportunity in this difficult time. While studying in law school, ” I saw presentations from a beauty school, it was then I realized that hair is not only “hair”. I found the art in it, which cultivated my desire to become a hair stylist. I think I made a good decision.”

He trained at Vidal Sassoon’s London Academy as well as Toni&Guy, and spent some time in London and Paris. He decided to move to New York from Greece 6 years ado. “New York is beyond my expectations. This city has a tremendous amount of potential and we are able to have opportunities which cannot be offered from any other place.”

The Drawing Room New York emanates an exquisite and inviting aura.
