Project Description

So you want a hairstyle that isn’t short, but still isn’t too long? Believe it or not, Goldilocks, you can get what you want.

The “medium-length” hairstyle genre — one that hits below the chin but not further than the collarbone — is possibly the most versatile of them all. You can pull your hair up into a topknot without it being too heavy and giving you a headache, but you also have room to create a ton of different looks.

You really can’t go wrong with this length — it pretty much looks good on everyone. But if you want to spice it up a bit and customize your new cut, you’ve come to the right place. We spoke with International Creative Director Clyde Elezi at The Drawing Room New York Salon and hairstylist Stephen Thevenot at David Mallet NY to figure out what medium-length cut is most flattering for each face shape. But remember: if you see something you like that’s not your face shape, any good hairstylist can cater the look for you. “In modern hairdressing, we tend to break those rules, mix and match face shapes and hairstyles in order to create a unique identity that reflects  each client’s personality, lifestyle and fashion sense,” Elezi tells us.

So read on for some fail-proof, celebrity-inspired hairstyles that we promise will look good.
